I Timothy 6:6-19 I Bob Reid

First and Second Timothy are called pastoral epistles because they are Paul’s letters of instruction to young Timothy, wherein he gives his apprentice in the ministry loads of advice, instruction, and encouragement about how he ought to lead the church. The passage before us includes an exhortation to Timothy to help his flock understand the importance of contentment. When you think of contentment, what comes to mind? One way to think of it is that it is the opposite of insatiable restlessness, a commonplace in the spirit of our age, to which we often fall prey. May God’s Spirit be our teacher.
