Service Recap; November 6
Grace Chicago was delighted to welcome Rev. Dr. Trygve Johnson to our pulpit on Sunday. His homily was entitled "The Mountains Are Out."
Prayer
Oh God our help in ages past, our hope for years to come...
We pray for our country. We pray that this week would see peace and not violence. That it would produce hope and not fear. That we would treat one another with charity and not spite. Increase in us the fruit of your Holy Spirit, that even in this election, you would draw us closer to your heart.
We pray for our city. We thank you for the joy and unity that a baseball game can bring. We pray that our love for the people with whom we share the streets of Chicago would increase. Make us compassionate for those in our city who are grieving this week-who are afflicted by poverty or illness. Help us to seek the good of our city this week.
We pray for this community. Grant, Oh Lord, that we would love one another well, that we would live together in unity, and that we would welcome a hurting world into our midst. Grant us strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.
Lord in your mercy, Hear our Prayer.
